10 viewpoints of London's skyline

Podczas moich licznych wojaży po Londynie, miałam szansę zobaczyć panoramę miasta w wielu miejscach. Dzisiaj podzielę się z wami listą dziesięciu miejsc, w których dostąpiłam tego zaszczytu, a być może i wy kiedyś skorzystacie z moich sugestii. A jeżeli byliście w którymś z tych miejsc, to dajcie znać jak wam się podobało. No to zaczynamy!

Pierwszym miejscem, do którego was zabieram jest Alexandra Park, znajdujący się w północnym Londynie. Ze szczytu wzgórza w owym parku można podziwiać nawet odległe, południowe rejony - zwróćcie uwagę na kreskę po lewej stronie na drugim zdjęciu, bo jest to wieża transmisyjna w Crystal Palace.

During my plentiful travels around London, I had a chance to see the city's skyline in so many places. Today I want to share my list with you of ten places where you can admire that beautiful view. Perhaps you will take advantage of my suggestions one day. If you were in any of these places, let me know where you've been how you liked it.

The first place I'm taking you now is Alexandra Park, which is located in North London. From the top of the hill in this park you can view even the remoted southern boroughs. Take notice to that grey line on the left in the second picture below - well done, you've just seen the Crystal Palace transmitting station.

Mieszkając w Londynie, miałam dość blisko do parku w Greenwich, więc moim ulubionym miejscem do wyciszenia się i zebrania myśli była ławeczka na szczycie pagórka w parku, po którym warto pochodzić, bo w różnych miejscach widać inne zakątki miasta. A, no i Greenwich to chyba jedyne miejsce, w którym uchwyciłam londyńską zimę, bo zanim docierałam do centrum, to śnieg zmieniał się w szarą maź lub zupełnie topniał.

While living in London, I was quite close to the Greenwich Park, so my favorite place to calm down and collect my thoughts was a bench at the top of the hill in the park. It is worth strolling along the whole hill, because the view is different in the various position you stop over. Oh, Greenwich is the only place where I captured the winter in the city, because every time I reached the centre, the snow had already turned into grey goo or melted.

A teraz jesteśmy w Hampstead Heath, z którego roztacza się imponujący widok. Do tego są tam ławeczki dla strudzonych wędrowców, a miejsce nie jest aż tak zatłoczone, więc wpadajcie.

We're in Hampstead Heath now, which offers us an impressive view. What's more, there are benches for the weary travellers and the place is not that crowded, so just drop by.

A teraz przenosimy się na południe miasta, aż do parku przy Horniman Museum, w którego uroczym parku znajduje się ukryte miejsce, z którego można zobaczyć takie coś:

We're moving to the South London now, all the way to the gardens around the Horniman Museum. In this charming park, there is a place where you can admire this view:

Będąc w połowie naszej wycieczki, wybieramy się do Regent's Parku, gdzie ze szczytu Primrose Hill mamy okazję podziwiać zarówno niedalekie centrum miasta jak i odległą dzielnicę finansową Canary Wharf:

Being in the middle of our trip, we're moving on to the Regent's Park. From the summit of the Primrose Hill we have an opportunity to enjoy the view of the close city center and the distant Canary Wharf:

Ostatnim już miejscem na świeżym powietrzu, które wam zaproponuję jest Stave Hill, z którego roztacza się wręcz idealny widok na, pachnącą świeżo zarobionymi funtami, dzielnicę Canary Wharf, a przy tym wciąż możemy podziwiać centrum:

The last open-air location I'm going to suggest you today is the Stave Hill. It has a panoramic, almost perfect, view at the Canary Wharf, which is the district of recently-earned pounds. We can still admire the city center from there if you prefer:

Po wywietrzeniu się w sześciu poprzednich miejscach, teraz przyszła pora na odwiedzenie budynku the Lloyd's w finansowym the City, który jest siedzibą firm ubezpieczeniowych. Budynek nie jest na co dzień dostępny dla zwiedzających, lecz ja miałam okazję go zwiedzić podczas otwartego weekendu, o którym pisałam tutaj.

After airing ourselves in six previous locations, it is time to visit the Lloyd's building in the financial district, in the City of London. It's the headquarters of insurance market which is not open to the public every day. However, I had the opportunity to visit it during the Open House London, which I described in depth in here .

Ósme już miejsce jest bardziej dostępne, bo jest nim taras widokowy na dachu centrum handlowego One New Change. A że centrum to znajduje się zaraz obok St Paul's Cathedral, to właśnie głównie ją się stamtąd podziwia.

The eighth location is way more accessible. It is the observation deck on the roof of the One New Change shopping centre. As this place is located right next to St Paul's Cathedral, so you should mainly admire this spot from there.

Przyszedł czas na dwa ostatnie miejsca, tym razem płatne, bo pamiętajcie, że odwiedzenie poprzednich ośmiu miejsc było zupełnie darmowe. Co prawda przejechałam się London Eye za darmo, o czym pisałam tutaj, lecz mało prawdopodobne, że i wam się taki myk uda, więc będziecie za taką przyjemność musieli zapłacić dość sporo. Z London Eye widoki dość dobre, lecz tylko przy idealnie pięknej pogodzie.

It's time for the last two places, this time fully payable.Remember that visit to the previous eight places were completely for free! Well, it is true that I had my ride on the London Eye for free, which I wrote here about, but it's not likely that you will do this trick as well. You will have to pay quite a lot for such a pleasure then. After all, the view from the London Eye is pretty good but only with the perfectly beautiful weather.

I ostatnim już miejscem jest the Monument, czyli pomnik na cześć wielkiego pożaru Londynu, czyli mój absolutny faworyt dzisiejszego zbioru. Za trzy funty można wejść na samą górę, nieźle wyrzeźbić mięśnie nóg, a przy tym pozachwycać się widokami, które są głównym celem naszej wyprawy.

The last place we're visiting today is the Monument, which commemorates the great fire of London. This is my absolute favorite spot of today's summary. For three pounds only you can go to the very top, shape your legs' muscles and admire the views, of course because that's the point of our trip today.
