London Borough of Southwark

Zabieram was dzisiaj na spacer po gminie Southwark, który rozpoczniemy od wizyty na targu jedzeniowym the Borough Market. Z pewnością jest to jedno z moich ulubionych miejsc w Londynie, które za sprawą niecodziennego położenia pod mostem kolejowym i obecnością smakowitych zapachów, nadaje się na długą weekendową wizytę czy szybki lunch w środku tygodnia. Sama miałam okazję próbować jedzenia u różnych sprzedawców i za każdym razem było ono przepyszne. A co najważniejsze, jest tam naprawdę bogaty wybór produktów, od warzyw i ciastek, poprzez oliwki czy owoce morza, aż do trufli czy przypraw.

Let me take you for a walk around the London borough of Southwark today. We are going to start our stroll from a visit at the famous Borough Market which is located in a truly unusual place - under the railway bridge. That's definitely one of my favourite places in London and I enjoyed myself every time I was there. It's perfect for a quick lunch on the weekday or a long foodie visit at the weekend. I had many chances to try loads of food there which was yummy every time I went there. The main thing is the stalls have an enormous variety of food there, from vegetables and cakes, olives and sea fruit, up to the truffles or spices.

Kolejnym miejscem godnym polecenia jest Tate Modern, czyli idealne miejsce do podziwiania sztuki współczesnej. A jeżeli nie, to można też śmiać się tam do woli ze swojego ograniczonego umysłu, który sztuki ogarnąć nie potrafi i widzi jedynie porozrzucane kamienie, jakieś takie zwisające łańcuchy oraz geometryczne bazgrołki. A jeżeli zmęczy was niewiedza, można zawsze odetchnąć na tarasie widokowym z widokiem na drugi brzeg Tamizy.

The next location I can honestly recommend today is Tate Modern, a perfect place to admire contemporary art. If not, you can always giggle at you being such a narrow-minded person because you can only notice the scattered stones, some chains hanging down the celling and loads of geometrical scribbles. If you're tired of the lack of the knowledge, you can also breathe some fresh air in on the observation deck with the river Thames view.

Podczas spacerów po Southwark, nad strudzonymi wędrowcami dzielnie czuwa the Shard, czyli drugi najwyższy wieżowiec w Europie. A jeżeli zmagamy się z lękiem wysokości, to zawsze możemy oddać się kontemplacji zabawnych budynków, które mnie bardzo intrygują - czy pokoje mają tam zaokrąglone ściany? A jeżeli to też wam nie odpowiada, to można wpaść w zachwyt nad sztuką uliczną, której w okolicach nie brakuje.

While strolling around Southwark, you'll definitely notice the Shard that's guarding the tireless ramblers. It's the second highest building in Europe, how cool is that! If we are afraid of heights, we can always admire those funny, round buildings which are so intriguing to me. Do people have round walls inside? Fine, if you're not satisfied with that, let's just swoon over the street art in the neighbourhood.

Pewnego razu postanowiłam uciec od zgiełku w centrum miasta i wdrapałam się na pagórek Stave Hill, skąd można podziwiać panoramę pobliskiej dzielnicy finansowej lub też reszty Londynu. Fajne miejsce, dość blisko centrum, które warto odwiedzić w słoneczny dzień.

Once upon a time, I broke away from the bustling city centre and climbed up the Stave Hill. You can admire either the view of financial district which is near or the skyline of the rest of London from the top of the hill. It's a great place, quite close to the centre, which is a perfect outing on a sunny day.

I ostatnim już punktem naszej wyprawy jest Tower Bridge, czyli najbardziej znany most Londynu. Wiecie lub nie, jest tak uwielbiany na całym świecie, że Chińczycy wybudowali sobie jego replikę w miejscowości Suzhou, zobaczcie sami.

The last place on our trip today is the Tower Bridge which is the most famous bridge in London, I reckon. You might know or not, it's so beloved in the world that Chinese people built the replica of the Bridge in Suzhou, check it out.
